Seems as if every day something new and bad comes out about the academic actions that have gone on during Holden Thorp's tenure as Chancellor of the University Of North Carolina. He says this is his own decision that the Board of Trustees didn't make him resign. If that is the case then Thorp held himself to the same set of rules that he fired Butch Davis for. If that is the way it has ended for Thorp I congratulate him on being consistent in discipline handed out. After next June he will go back in the class room in Chapel Hill. I find no fault in that what so ever.
Todd Gurley the former Tarboro Viking continues to impress University of Georgia football fans. Saturday Gurley got another hundred yards running the ball for the Bulldogs and now has 288 yards this season in only 29 carries. That is a whopping 9.9 yards per carry. Fellow Tar Heel Keith Marshall also went over a hundred yards rushing Saturday but so far for the year has a few more than 180 yard in 30 carries and his average is over six per tote.
I found out something Thursday that I had not realized before. The brand new Rocky Mount High School which cost what 48 million which is a sight to behold on the inside and has some terrific athletic fields but the soccer field does not have lights. Trying to save money I guess the lights were never installed and should the soccer team make the playoffs and they had an opportunity to host a playoff game they would probably have to play at the City of Rocky Mount Sports Complex like they have had to do in the past because they didn't have lights at the old school. I don't know how much a set of lights cost but when you talk about spending close to 50 million what is an extra 50,000 going to do on the monthly payment? $10 a month more?
Lauren Doughtie is in a slump on the Futures tour and failed to make the cut this past weekend. They have two tournaments left on this season and she is 10,000 dollars out of 10th place and her qualifying card to the LPGA Tour. He needs to win one of those tournaments because the two tournaments left the winner gets about that for winning.
We all in the Doughtie family are pulling for her to make it but even now being 20th in earnings the scores she is getting probably would never make and LPGA cut so looks like back on the Futures next season and try again next year.
