The prospects of a six way tie after four games in the Big East baseball race was ruined tonight by Hunt as they came to Nash Central and picked up a 10-6 win. Hunt will have the outright lead as they now stand at 3-1 in conference while Nash Central who won their first conference game has now lost three straight and they sit in last place.
Just a review Fike and Northern Nash played their supposedly Friday game on Wednesday because Fike is having their Prom tonight. Fike won the game 6-5 over Northern Nash and both teams stand at 2-2.
Tonight Rocky Mount paid a visit to Southern Nash and they were not very nice to the home team and the Firebirds did all they could do to extend the hospitality. The Gryphons scored three in the first on one hit, batted around in the second collecting six hits and seven runs. They scored once in third without a hit and batted around again in the fourth scoring six runs on four hits. On the night Firebird pitching walked 15 batters and the Gryphons even their conference record to 2-2 after a 17-0 win at Southern Nash in five innings. The Firebirds drop to 2-2.
Zack Keeter started on the mound for the Gryphons going the first three innings allowing two hits. Forest Bell pitch the final two. For the week the Gryphons have two shutouts giving up four hits in 14 innings and they have put themselves in the Big East race.
Josh Pittman, Logan Pearce, Zack Keeter all had two hits while Spencer Ramsey, David Harrison, Forest Bell, Will Hedgepeth and Jamar Ellis all reached base with hits.
Tuesday night will mark the halfway point in the conference race as Hunt 3-1 will play Fike 2-2. Southern Nash 2-2 will collide with Nash Central 1-3 and Northern Nash 2-2 meets Rocky Mount 2-2
