Last night at the Parent meeting held in the Rocky Mount High School gym two new items were added to the required lecture given to parents concerning Concussions, and neck injuries as well as other possible trauma but it had nothing to do with the NCHSAA.
Mike Gainey announced last night which is the first I have heard of it that Nash County schools are going on a 185 school calendar which as far as athletes are concern there are only 13.5 days per semester that a child can miss school and still be eligible to play sports. The most exciting news was that as a Rocky Mount High School sports fan you can go on the Rocky Mount High school website and sign up to receive an update on all sports scores of RMHS teams as they happen or as soon as the scoring update is text to a new system in place.
If you are interested in signing up for one sport or all Gryphon sports go to http://www.sportstextprep.com. There is no sign up fee to follow of Gryphons sports if you can't be there at all the games. If you go on line to the Rocky Mount High School Website, click on Athletics. Then click school sports on the far left. Scroll down through the schools sports until you see the directions of how to navigate the signing up for the first time. It cost you nothing but RMHS will receive some money for all the text sent through the system during the year. It's great for you the fan and a monetary reward for Rocky Mount Athletics.
Gaffney South Carolina beat Bradenton Florida for the second time this weekend 14-6 to win the American Legion Southeast Regional in Sumter SC. They will not have all that far to go from Gaffney to Shelby NC for the Legion World Series in two weekends.
I hate to keep hitting on Carolina with all the chaos going in with the football program but this deal with the fans that bought the new Blue seats who are upset with Holden Thorp for firing Butch Davis just after all the Blue Seats were sold , I have to ask this question. If you were one of those embarrassed by the timing of the firing and are saying Holden Thorp looks like a dope. What do you think all those folks talking of suing UNC to get there money back look s like? Talk about making somebody look like they are from the sticks but Carolina is sinking down Dog Patch U. Come on people get it together, support your team through thick and thin. I guess Carolina is a basketball school.

Lawsuit is another attempt to discredit and get Thorpe fired. It will get to point where Board of Trustees will ask Thorpe to resign so that UNC can move on from the negative publicity. Similar to Davis and Baddour.
