Moss Makes Another All State Team

Benton Moss now two months a graduate of Rocky Mount High School has made another All State Baseball team.  This one the NCBCA.  He is joined on the team by Wilson Hunt's Parker Lamn.

Put a State Championship on your resume' and Mike Gainey will be an assistant basketball coach on another All Star game next year.  This one when North-South Carolina meet each other in basketball.  That will be the 2012 High School Classic in Myrtle Beach South Carolina.  That will be held about a week or so after the State Championship weekend.

If you haven't been into Doug Pickette's office right beside the football practice field at Rocky Mount High school you may bump into something if you go in with your eyes closed.  Pickette taking over for the legend Bernie Capps as Rocky Mount head trainer has rearranged the training room to fit Doug's needs.  It is not as if Dougs new to the job since he has handled  the so called minor sports for the past several years under Bernie's leadership.

During baseball season all of the Senior players Benton Moss, Matthew and Thomas Berry and Taylor Clontz had their pictures on the dugout which I thought was really neat.  Volleyball seniors will also have their banners on a wall somewhere either in the hallway  or gym during the fall.  Morgan one of the Volleyball managers has been practicing her pose as coach Wilcox has given her a whistle to use during practice while the girls are doing some of their workouts.  Lookout for Coach Doughtie's picture hanging up there somewhere.

Still no word on Brian Goodwin signing a baseball contract with the Washington Nationals. I can tell you that Brian has sent in his letter of intent to play baseball at the University of South Carolina.  That doesn't mean he's not signing with the Nationals but a little leverage being used by Brain in his contract talks.

Xavier Macklin has dipped to a 244 batting average playing for Vermont in the New-York Penn League. He still has had only a 136 at bats and a five hit night can raise you average 25 points.

Rain has played havoc with the Southeast Regional American Legion Baseball Tournament going on in Sumter South Carolina.  The North Carolina Champion  Cherryville had not taken the field for the third game of the day at 9pm last night.  In fact only one game had been completed and Cherryville was schedule for the third game Saturday.  Cheryville Lost their first game Thursday to Alabama 5-4 and Friday beat Virginia 11-8.
