Crime Doesn't Pay

The Tarboro Police Department has made an arrest in the Vandalism of Tarboro High School Thursday night. Portions of the school including the football field was spray painted in the blue colors of SouthWest Edgecombe high school.  Many in Tarboro thought that someone associated with SouthWest had to be involved and they were right.  At least one person arrested was a student from SouthWest High School.

Whether it was excellent detective work or just plain stupidity on the vandals part members of the Tarboro Police department went over to Walmart across the street from Tarboro High School  and after looking at store security tape we able to identify individuals who bought paint from Walmart  sometime Thursday night before the crime was committed.

This Monday afternoon Southern Nash soccer came to Rocky Mount and beat the Gryphons 3-1.  The soccer regular season ends this week as Wednesday is the last conference game of the year as The Gryphons travel to Northern Nash.  Both teams are heading for the second division this season.  Weather permitting this game will be taped for the Stretchlon Sports Show which probably  sets this game up to get rained out.  Today the weather is calling for rain tonight  into about mid day Wednesday.

Rocky Mount and Nash Central tennis hit the road in the opening round today in the Tennis Duels.  I questioned yesterday about a #1 seed Nash Central having to start out on the road in the playoffs.  After further review the Tennis playoffs are what I think football should be.  Only the top two teams from each conference are in and that puts #1 facing off with #1 in the opening round.

This eliminates those 3-8 teams playing a #1 seed and losing 9-0 and having to come home wishing they had not made the playoffs.  I think this is the second year for the football playoffs but if a team is a bad team  they have a choice this year whether to play this opening round game or declining to play.  That will leave certain teams getting a bye in the opening round.  I say lets drop the football from 64 teams to 32 and get right to some good games the opening round.

Four weeks ago everyone in  the Big East probably would be saying the winner of the Hunt- Nash Central game would be conference regular season champs.  Not so fast my friend.  Should Hunt beat Nash Central a and Fike win out and Beat Hunt the last game at Fike there is a possible three way tie.  Sounds like last year doesn't it. No kidding when I say this.  Fike right now might be the best team in the league.  I helped do the Fike- Hunt game that was play in non conference early in the year and I was impressed with Fike.  Every thing that Hunt got that night in winning 21-0 was gift wrapped by the Golden Demons.  We will see whether they are as generous this go round.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE AGAINST HUNT. CONSISTENTLY YEAR AFTER YEAR THEY HAVE ONE OF THE TOP FOOTBALL TEAMS IN THE CONFERENCE, THIS YEAR THEY HAVE THE BEST STATS AS A TEAM ANY YOU STILL TRY TO RUN THEM DOWN. i DO AGREE FIKE IS MUCH IMPROVED, BUT THEY STILL HAVE TO PROVE THEMSELVES.
