Playoff Week Begins

I don't know about you but I get confused real easy when talking about tennis.  Tuesday begins the team aspect of the playoffs when Rocky Mount travels to  West Carteret and Nash Central undefeated on the year travels to C B Aycock.  I thought there was suppose to be a home field advantage in the playoffs for any team who finishes first and especially if you are undefeated.

This weekend tennis will be holding the singles and doubles Regional at Barton College.  Here is where I get very confused as why they do it this way. So Tuesday is a team event and by the weekend it is for  singles and doubles.

Rocky Mount's McKenzie Warner the Singles champion of the Big East will play during the weekend along with Katie Beamon of Northern Nash.  The Price sisters Randi and Kaley won the Big East doubles title will play at Barton in doubles along with Rocky Mount's Elizabeth Thompson and Caroline Bell.  Also qualifying for the Regional was the doubles teams of Kaley Bass and Dana Kelly  from Nash Central and Carla Flores and Casey Strickland of Southern Nash

Should either Nash Central or Rocky Mount win in the team playoffs they would not be in action again  until Tuesday October 26th.  Are you thoroughly confused as I am at this point  about the way tennis does it's playoffs.

This Wednesday the Cross Country conference Championships  for the Big East will be held at the Red Oak Middle school.  If you have ever seen a cross country event at Red Oak it has an excellent layout.

Thursday is the first day of the Volleyball playoffs and Northern Nash and Rocky Mount both have home games.  Rocky Mount host the #3 seed from the Coastal conference White Oak.

Both Northern Nash and Rocky Mount  football teams are ailing with plenty of injuries to go around for each.  If neither wins this Friday night they will play the final game of the season at Northern with neither having won a conference game.  I doubt very seriously if that has ever happened before.

Saw on Friday that Andrew Morales score his first goal of his college career against Maryland in a ACC soccer game.

Last Friday night was Senior night at Rocky Mount Academy as all their seniors took part in their last home game including Colt Brake the Eagle football player  who sustained a spinal injury last season.   Colt was named the home coming KING.

If you saw the Stretchlon Sports show last night one of my guest was son Brooks.  I have sent four children through Rocky Mount High School and of all of the TV and radio games this is the first time I actually have ever been in the booth while they played sports.  This case we were in studio as Brooks was part of the panel as we talked about sports injuries.  Bob Innuncci the Athletic director of Rocky Mount Academy was our guest.
