Today Rocky Mount High School announced all the coaching changes made for the upcoming 2015/2016 season and the headliner is the return of former baseball coach Pat Smith to take over the reins of the program once again.
His seven years as coach the first time around the Gryphons won four conference titles and one state championship in 2008. While gone to RMA he took RMA to the state final series once. It should be no surprise to any who has ridden by the school lately. Smith has be redesigning the baseball field for the past several weeks.
Smith takes over for the man that replaced him Kent Cox. Cox moved over to Nash Central to coach football with former friend and coach at Rocky Mount Chris Lee. Cox ran the Gryphon baseball program for five seasons.
Smith who won a state championship while in high school at Robersonville and two state baseball titles while a high school head coach. He play American legion baseball for both Greenville and Rocky Mount during his Legion days.
Here is a list of the other new Gryphon coaches this season. Cheerleading head coach Shira Parish. assistant Brittany Williams. New assistant coaches in football Koron Nicholson, Michael Peebles and Carter Varnell.

It's a great day for RM Baseball program, Coach Smith should get us back on the right path,way too much talent wasted the last five years.
