Two Pitching Gems Only One Winner

If you love those baseball games where the pitchers are in control then you needed to be at Rocky Mount tonight.  Southern Nash pitcher Trevor Mills pitches a gem. Six innings three hits, eight strike outs and two base on balls.  Rocky Mount did not have  base runner past the third inning.

Freshman Ben Seracki was on the bump for the Gryphons and by the sixth inning Gryphons fans were thinking back when another freshman toed the rubber  for the Gryphons in the Eastern finals against DH Conley and pitch the Gryphons into the state championship series.  That freshman was Benton Moss back in 2008. Seracki peers toward home just over his glove just like Benton.  In fact their stature is very similar.

Seracki goes seven allows three hits, walked one an one runner reached on and error.  Only five Firebirds reached base.  Gryphon third baseman Spencer Ramsey tripled in the first and the very next batter Jarmar Ellis singled to left to drive in the only run of the game.

Ramsey would single in the third.  Southern three hits came from Ryan Marlowe a double in the second.  Dawson Sikes double in sixth and a two out bloop single by Jason Montique in the 7th.

Rocky Mount jumps to 3-1 with a home game Saturday against Tarboro.  Southern Nash drops to 2-2 after having lost 10-9 to Hunt Tuesday and tonight 1-0.

There must have been heavy air or something in the air.  At Hunt tonight they beat Nash Central 1-0.  Hunt goes 4-0 in Big East play while Nash Central falls to 1-3

Fike hosted Northern Nash and Fike evens their conference record at 2-2 beating Northern Nash 7-4.  The Knights still search for conference victory number one.

Found out tonight from Tom and Ashley Moss that Benton Moss is injured and will not break spring training camp when all the minor league players go their seperate ways.  He will stay in Port Charlotte Florida the spring training of the Tampa Rays and rehab his injury.  Looks at least three weeks at best.
