Little league baseball is a lot of times runners get on base and the defense get nervous and bad things happen. The Nationals stayed calm when things got tight while the Americans defense didn't make as many plays and take the loss.
The hits were relative even as the Nationals had 7 while the Americans collected five. Base on balls saw nine more base runners for the Nationals while the American Leaguers only got on with free passes four time.
Isaiah Thomas and Payton Bass collected two hits each for the Nationals. Andrew Meade, Chase Hollowell and Woodall Rose had one baggers. The Americans five hits were collected by Will Stewart who had two and Alex Noland,Aaron Gerlach and Chase Johnson reach base with hits.
The Loss puts the Americans in that dreaded loser bracket where they play at 6.00pm Friday, if they win they play again at 8.00. If they should win that they play at 12 Saturday. If they win that they would be eligible for the championship game at 2pm and if they win that can come back Sunday and play for all the marbles.
Being in the winners bracket the Nationals play at 8.00pm Friday night and if they win that 2.00pm Saturday for the District crown.
The Nash County All Stars who were drubbed by the Nationals last night play at 6.00pm Friday in one of the loser bracket games.
One of the worse things about trying to keep up with every thing that is going on I did not know until tonight when I ran into Sam Toler at the Midget game that the American League Senior Little League won their District Tournament last weekend after they had lost their first game they came out of the losers bracket to win eight games including beating the National League
You may have seen earlier this week that the 13 and 14 year old Nash CountyBabe Ruth teams both won their District tournaments and are heading to further play. This is shaping up to be a big Summer for local summer baseball again.
Cary knocked of North Chatham and they will meet Wayne County for the Area One title in American Legion Baseball. Both teams have qualified for
