Rocky Mount Nationals Pound Nash County

The Tar Heel District Midget 9/10 year old Little League got under way tonight at the Rocky Mount Sports  Complex and the National League All Stars from Rocky Mount wasted little time and letting everyone know they want to be the team to beat in this district Tournament.

Only 11 players on the roster ten got hits and the lone player who didn't got and rbi as the National Leaguers pounded out 21 hits en route to a 22-0 win over the Nash County All Stars who teams comes  from Spring Hope, Bailey and Red Oak.  Nine  of the eleven players had at least one rbi as Rocky Mount score six in the first, eight in the second and added eight more in the third.

Their opening round wins sets up a showdown with the Rocky Mount American League All Stars who had a bye tonight in the first round and they collide Thursday night at 6.00pm at the sports complex winners bracket game.

Trevor Mills and Isaiah Thomas  lead the hitting parade going 4-4 each.  Andrew Meade and Chase  Hollowell had three hits each  Hunter Robinson had two hits but one left yard as he hit a two run homer and Jamar Ellis also had two hits for the National League.Gates Harrell, Woodall Rose,Payton Bass all collect a hit.

The rbi parade was lead with three by Hunter Robinson.  Trevor Mills and Chase Hollowell had two each.  Meade, Thomas,Colin Legaj,Bass, Rose and Harrell each had one.

The Good news for the Nationals Head Coach Johnny Ramsey is he used only three pitchers for a total of four innings.  Woodall Rose pitched the first two, then Gates Harrell pitch the third and Isaiah Thomas pitch the fourth.  Nash County collected  four hits in the game. One each from Lane Butler,Ben Heacox,Adam Denton and Noel Thomas.

If the weather doesn't bother the schedule the championship game will be played Saturday afternoon at 2.00pm assuming the undefeated teams wins all their games.  Should the loser bracket team win the game Saturday  that would force a winner take all game that will be played Sunday afternoon at 2.00pm against both one loss teams.

Wayne County beat Pitt County last night in game three of the best of five Area one playoffs 9-4.  WC sweeps the series three  games to none and has qualified for the State Tournament in Morehead City later this month.  They still have the Area One finals to go before the State tournament.  Last word there was Cary led North Chatham two games to none.
